317 LGBT Older Adults Have Taken the Survey Already – HAVE YOU?
Have you taken it yet?
Have you forwarded it to everyone in your personal email address book yet – asking them to both take it and forward to the people in their address books?
This is THAT important.
For the first time in Michigan history, the Office of Services to the Aging has organized a statewide effort to survey the needs and concerns of the over age 50 LGBT community and those over 18 with a disabling condition. It’s also the first time any state in the country has done a statewide needs assessment. This data may be used to guide aging services decisions – we need everyone to take it!
As of August 12th, we had 317 completed surveys, but we need more – we’re aiming for 750. We need everyone eligible LGBT older adult or those living with disabilities to take the survey and to pass it on, asking eligible friends, partners and relatives to take the survey. It is confidential and takes just 20 minutes.
We know we face challenges not generally faced by the larger older and disability communities: lower incomes; limited access to family caregivers; and fear of discrimination or harassment in the long term care arena. Regardless of the cause of these differences, we can’t let THIS opportunity pass us by.
