On October 15, 2013, Michigan’s East Lansing City Council voted 4 to 0 in favor of creating a domestic partnership registry.

elderly_couple-24195The ordinance, the second of its kind in the state, will allow domestic partners of public employees to access benefits within the city limit.

Because of the state’s restrictions on relationship recognition, the ordinance is largely symbolic. However, the move is an important step forward.  Click here for more information
