The new Cancer Action Council, based out of LGBT Detroit, addresses the needs and issues concerning lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.
The LGBT Cancer Action Council will meet once a month and will:
- Learn more about the ways in which cancer affects LGBT communities in Metro Detroit.
- Improve access to cancer care for LGBT individuals.
- Learn more about cancer, cancer research, and how community members can partner with researchers.
- Set priorities for future LGBT cancer care research and funding
Group membership is open to anyone, but the group will solely focus on the cancer experiences of LGBT individuals in metro Detroit. Group participants will receive stipends.
